A proper approach to the tools of the trade can happen in various ways. The University explains the culture in cinema, the history of motion picture.. What Rossellini did, how Fellini behaved, what were the thematic faced by the German Cinema or by the French Nouvelle Vague. And it’s undoubtedly a good choice but generally mainly theoretical, therefore it is not supported by practical exercises. To get to know how Antonioni would have moved on that scene, what particular lens he would have used, what angle he would have chosen, and not try that angle or that shot ourselves, won’t make us a film director.
The cinema is intuition, it’s to know how to see and to know how to listen. But it’s also working always with our audience imagined on the set. And this rule is not to be underestimated. If you choose cinema it means that you have to try to speak to many people, you must try to communicate to so many.

A person that thinks of realizing a film for himself either he is a dishonest man or he has chosen the wrong job. Attention! I haven’t said that it is necessary to gratify the audience but that it’s absolutely necessary to know deeply the tools of the trade to succeed in communicating, rather to be certain to reach the heart and the feelings of the public. If you think otherwise, this classes aren’t for you.
The film is a form of particular art. It has a father, the director, but also a considerable number of important relatives, whose contribution is not to be underestimated. If you wish to become a good director, remember that it is not enough to know how to direct actors or be able to determine the lengths of a sequence, you must also choose good collaborators. To do so, you need to know the job of each of them. Or at least jobs such as the scriptwriter, the camera operator and the director of lights.
