Not even Fellini

    … Nobody is born learned,

After a life spent dreaming images, editing images, imagining images, I find myself suddenly submerged by images. And this fact, doesn’t bring me any pleasure, it actually worries me. The growing of new technologies, which was until fifteen years ago a small stream, transformed itself into a powerful river. First the analogical, then the digital, more and more reliable, easy to use, ready at once, allow us to film everything and what’s more with everything: mobile phones, home phones, cameras to be hold on a single hand, to be kept in our pocket, on our hat, or in our jacket. I have nothing against progress and what facilitates our life. The fact is that this quick move forwards, just like a river swollen with water, has first eroded then lost, precious knowledge which was a fruit of hard work.

Only a few weeks to roughly get to know an editing program like Avid and you are, you feel and you sign yourself an editor. Just a few hours to check the on-off buttons of any camera and you consider yourself a camera man. A photoelectric cell transforms yourself into a director of photography, It’s equivalent of defining ourselves writers only because experts of a computer writing program. Well, it doesn’t work like this. Nobody is born learned, not even Fellini. And actually, to know the fascinating language of cinema can turn out to be very important even for those of you who are born learned.
